The United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) is now offering the fifth edition of the Human Rights Council Training Programme. This course will run online, in parallel with the official UN Human Rights Council in Geneva.

Gain in-depth knowledge and skills on human rights and the UN mechanisms utilized to promote and protect them, in this unique training programme. This knowledge can empower you to take on leadership roles in your field and promote respect for human rights across the world.The UN Human Rights Council Training Programme includes webinars and e-workshops delivered by UN experts, as well as virtual guided tours through the United Nation’s Palais des Nations and Geneva´s diplomatic district.In addition, participants will be able to experience the official Human Rights Council via live stream and attend selected sessions online, followed by a debrief with UN experts.

UNITAR will offer scholarship opportunities for a limited number of participants to attend the training free of charge.

Minneapolis City Council passes a resolution recognizing Human Rights Day and International Migrants Day in the city of Minneapolis

The Minneapolis City Council passed a resolution in support of Human Rights Day and upcoming 75th anniversary year of the Universal Declartion of Human Rights (on December 10) and International Migrants Day (on December 18). Kristi Rudelius-Palmer of HRE USA attended the event and shared copies of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

Every year on December 10th the world celebrates Human Rights Day – the day on which the United Nations General Assembly adopted, in 1948, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR).

We will celebrate human rights education impacts in 2022 and look forward towards activities for the 75th anniversary of the UDHR in the coming year. We will hear from and recognize honorees of our 2022 Impact Award, Edward O’Brien Award, and UCCHRE Award.

Stoking the Fire of Creative Resistance, a professional development workshop for educators, activists, and artists

Sponsored by Art and Resistance Through Education (ARTE), this full-day interactive, participatory arts workshop is recommended for: teachers, educators, non-profit leaders, artists, activists, social workers, youth leaders, teaching artists, and others!

Workshop registration and light breakfast will start at 9:30am. Participants will be responsible for their own lunch, but snacks will be served. As a follow-up to this workshop, we’ll be offering an optional, virtual check-in to put into practice what we’ve learned together.
