US Human Rights Network

HRE USA partners with the US Human Rights Network, to engage the United States on fulfillment of its human rights obligations related to human rights education.

HRE USA is a member of USHRN’s Education Working Group. As such we have participated in development of shadow reports to accompany and critique U.S. government reports to the UN Human Rights Council on compliance with human rights treaties, with a particular focus on those treaties in which the United States has committed to teach its own people the fundamental principles of human rights.

In 2014 HRE USA co-authored, along with the US Human Rights Network, the first national civil society report on human rights education as part of the UN’s Universal Periodic Review for the United States. >> Read more

We believe that human rights--and human rights education--belong to everyone, and that the full realization of human rights means that access to human rights education materials must never be conditioned upon the subscription to any particular religious faith, ideology, political affiliation, or membership in any particular organization and that any organizational connections should be openly acknowledged.
