University and College Consortium for Human Rights Education

The University and College Consortium for Human Rights Education was established in April 2016 out of a group of individuals, including many HRE USA members. The group saw the need for and benefit of collaboration among those engaged in human rights education.

The consortium consists of practitioners, researchers, instructors, advocates, professionals, students, administrators, alumni and other members of the university and college communities globally that are engaged in human rights education. Our mission is to further human rights education, research and learning by promoting engagement, collaboration, innovation, and mentorship within higher education.

UCCHRE hosts a forum, in collaboration with HRE USA, to discuss various issues of common concern among human rights educators in colleges and universities. Annual Training As Action Series / All Education & Training Opportunities / Past Events & Recordings

UCCHRE also partnered with HRE USA in the development of a Stakeholder Report for the mid-term cycle of the U.S. Universal Periodic Review at the UN Human Rights Council.

Since 2021, UCCHRE has recognized individuals, organizations, initiatives, and publications for their outstanding contributions to human rights education with its annual Human Rights in Higher Education Award. UCCHRE Award – HRE USA
