The Global Alliance for Human Rights, launched by UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk in June 2026, is bringing together governments, organizations and other stakeholders to advance action for human rights in the lead-up to the 80th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (2028).
One of the Global Alliance’s catalytic initiatives, “Rights in Every Classroom”, aims to make human rights education a reality across primary, secondary and tertiary education.
The process for participating in the Global Alliance, and in particular to express interest in the “Rights in Every Classroom” catalytic initiative, is now open. Interested organizations and institutions can do so through the online participation platform, where information on the participation process is available in all six UN official languages.
