Each year, CivxNow conducts a comprehensive review of state-level K–12 civic education policies in order to track progress across the country. The results of the annual scan are reflected in the State Policy Map, where users can view state-by-state results.
This year’s policy scan reflects growing momentum, including a notable rise in states recognizing excellence in civics. Additionally, the increasing presence and impact of AI and media literacy in classrooms is reflected, alongside key areas like assessment and teacher professional development.
