New Green Careers Classroom Resource

Climate Generation has just released its new Green Careers for a Changing Climate Instructional Supplement and extended Green Careers Documentary.

Green career opportunities are rapidly increasing and all of our students need tangible experiences that will excite them for, and prepare them for the workforce of tomorrow. Many Green STEM Careers are the fastest-growing careers in the country, and there are many pathways students can take to become qualified professionals in these areas. The Green Careers for a Changing Climate instructional supplement contains resources to help young people learn about Green STEM Careers — careers that can help solve the impacts of climate change using STEM skills.

The resources are free to download and can be taught in any subject area. Get students excited about their future and how to translate their passions into careers that help people and the planet!

Oak Human Rights Fellowship

The Oak Institute for Human Rights at Colby College in Waterville, Maine has opened their call for nominations and applications for the 2021 Oak Human Rights Fellow. The fellowship provides a one-semester activist-in-residence opportunity for a human rights activist operating in difficult or dangerous circumstances to come to Colby College, for respite from front-line duties so they can reflect on their experiences.

Job Opportunity: Human Rights Education Liaison – Human Rights Watch Student Task Force

The Human Rights Watch Student Taskforce (HRW STF) in Souther California seeks a highly qualified Human Rights Education (“HRE”) Liaison to create digital human rights education programming and toolkits in support of the Student Task Force’s annual campaigns.

HRW STF is looking for an innovative, creative thinker with a deep understanding of human rights education and experience with high school-age youth. The candidate should have strong project management skills and be detail-oriented. This is an opportunity to help expand HRW’s human rights education advocacy efforts and mobilize the next generation of human rights advocates on the most pressing human rights issues of the day. The position is based in the Los Angeles office and reports to the Senior Director for Southern California.

The HRE Liaison will collaborate daily with STF colleagues as well as external vendors and the expanding network of high school stakeholders.

Job Announcement: Reconstruction Campaign Organizer

The Zinn Education Project (coordinated by Rethinking Schools and Teaching for Change) seeks to recruit a part-time Campaign Organizer to design the next phase for the Teach Reconstruction Campaign. The length of the contract may be up to 12 months.

To date, the Teach Reconstruction Campaign has engaged thousands of classroom teachers across the U.S. in teaching about Reconstruction (the period between abolition and Jim Crow) with resources beyond the limited scope of textbooks and traditional curriculum. The next phase of the campaign is to extend these efforts to the policy level.

The campaign organizer will design and help implement the second phase of the Reconstruction Campaign in coordination with Zinn Education Project co-directors and staff.
