In his 20+years as a justice-oriented educator, Brad Archer has developed curricula and facilitated conversations centered around promoting human rights, working with diverse groups to educate and empower potential advocates and activists. Brad is driven by his joint beliefs that the world needs more individuals, institutions and systems focused on human liberation, and that a human rights-focused pedagogy holds the greatest promise of laying the foundation of a just and humane planet. He loves working with young people because their energy, curiosity and creativity give him hope for our future.
Brad received an MA in Ethics, Peace and Global Affairs from American University, during which time he published works on Islamic Feminism and Just War Theory. More recently, he graduated from University of North Carolina Charlotte’s Urban Education MA program (with a focus on antiracism education) where he investigated ways secondary teachers in rights-regressive states are subverting anti-LGBT policies, by way of creating safe and affirming spaces for their students. In his efforts to personally push back against the efforts of white Christian nationalists to erase the experiences and contributions of marginalized Americans, Brad has participated in lawsuits seeking to protect secular public education in his deeply-red home state of Oklahoma.
Brad is happiest when hiking in mountains, exploring deserts or watching sunsets from beaches with his wife and daughter. Experiencing live music is another passion, and they attend as many shows as possible.
