Karen Hopkins has worked primarily in informal education settings at K-12 and college levels by coordinating after-school literacy programs and training volunteer tutors for reading and math programs throughout the District, developing youth-led human rights education programming, and coordinating community college international exchange programs. She earned her MA in International Education at the George Washington University and a JD from the University of the District of Columbia. She is an active member of HRE USA’s Collaborative Action, Policy and Advocacy Committee (CAPAC) and has been advocating for the revision of the DC Social Studies standards.
