Gay Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD)
Dedicated to “promoting fair, accurate and inclusive representation as a means of challenging discrimination based on sexual orientation or identity.” Many action opportunities .

Gay, Lesbian & Straight Education Network (GLSEN)
Works to ensure that LGBT students are able to learn and grow in a school environment free from bullying and harassment. Offers many ways to take action for students and everyone.

Human Rights Campaign (HRC)
Advocates on behalf of LGBT Americans, mobilizes grassroots actions in diverse communities, invests strategically to elect fair-minded individuals to office, and educates the public about LGBT issues. Offers student memberships.

Parents, Family, and Friends of Lesbians and Gays (PFLAG)
Promotes the well-being of lesbian and gay people, their families, and friends through education and advocacy. Online information on Project Open Mind offers hate crime and teen suicide statistics. Useful resource for parents and others when one a young person comes out to them.
