Health

The enjoyment of the highest attainable standard of health is one of the fundamental rights of every human being without distinction of race, religion, political belief, economic, or social condition.”
~Preamble to the Whole Health Organization Constitution

Health is a fundamental social and economic right. It is closely interrelated to other human rights such as social security, the right to rest and leisure, and especially to the right of an adequate standard of living, poverty being the primary cause of death world wide. Other factors such as a person’s race, sex, religion and social standing can affect his or her ability to enjoy the right to health. Violations of the other human rights such as human trafficking, torture and violence severely impact the right to health.
